Voronezhskie Devchata Folk Dance Ensemble

"Voronezhskie Devchata" ("Voronezh Girls"  translation from Russian into English) vocal and dance ensemble was founded in 1966 in Voronezh Philharmonic Society by well known Russian composer Konstantin Massalitinov. During these years the unique group has become laureate on many international All-Union and All-Russian competitions and has won renown in Russia and in many countries of the globe, where appeared with concerts.
The most part of the Ensemble's repertoire is Russian female lyrical song with its versatility, deep feeling and inimitable beauty. These are the main features and the brightest colors in the palette of the talented company. Wide vocal range, perfect performing features of the Ensemble's singers give them the opportunity to appear with several concert programs - from traditional Russian choral folklore to complicated pieces of contemporary composers.
For many years the creative cooperation connects "Voronezhskie Devchata" Ensemble and prominent the Ossipov National Academic Russian Folk Instruments Orchestra and its artistic director Nikolai Kalinin.
Since 1977 Yuri Romanov, a People's Artist of Russia a Professor, a well-known musician, a talented composer, has been a director of the Ensemble. His arrangements of folk songs, original compositions are the basis of "Voronezhskie Devchata" Ensemble's repertoire.
