Moscow State Ballet on Ice
MOSCOW ON ICE(Moscow state ballet on ice)was the first professional ice show to be organized in the Soviet Union in 1957. The job of setting up the first soviet professional ice show was entrusted to the well-known choreographer proffesor Leonid Lavrovski who was at that timechief bellet master of the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. It was under his artistic direction that the first ballet on ice production premiered in 1959.
Since then the MOSCOW ON ICE has toured extennsively throughout the USSR and abroad. Audiences in Turkey, Germany, Poland, Rumaniya, Syria, France, Argentina, India,Australia, Israel, Mexico, Canada, Egypt, USA and many other have given standing ovations to the ballet's performance.
Over the years a number of talented directors and choreographers have contributed to the programs of the MOSCOW ON ICE , among them Bolshoi ballet stars Yuri Kondratov and Vladimir Tikhonov . For a number of years the company was headed by the well-known soviet choreographer ,people's artist of the USSR Mikhail Godenko. Routines choreographed by Mikhail Godenko are invariably featured in the MOSCOW ON ICE programs and are always well recieved by the public.
Currently the MOSCOW ON ICE under the artistic direction of Igor Shapovalov, people's artist of the Russia who staged a number of mass events during the international youth and students festivals in Havana, Moscow olimpic games of 1980 and Moscow youth olimpic games of 1998.
The performance was staged for demonstration in the Ice Theatre of "Cypress Gardens", one of the oldest parks in Florida, USA (size of the stage is 12*8 m).The first night was in November 1999 and it
is performed every day without days off. The show is a success with all groups of spectators, but it is intended for children.
The music includes works of famous Russian composers: "Sleeping Beauty" by P. Tchaikovsky,
"Shakherezada" by Rimski-Korsakov, "Shchelkuntchik"by P. Tchaikovsky, as well as musical works of American composers for "The Snow-White and Seven Dwarfs" and "The Humpback from Notre-Dam".
The history of "Moscow on ice" covers over 40 years and one of the first performances was called "Ice Kaleidoscope". It was staged by outstanding choreographer Leonid Lavrovsky who was the founder of the company.
Nowadays, the show is still in repertoire. "Ice Kaleidoscope"has combined the best efforts of choreographers who worked in "Moscow on ice" in different time.
The performance consists of items that were staged using classical music, popular music of different world nations, and modern music including both jazz compositions and popular song hits.
The performance always looks up-to-date owing to the efforts by Igor Shapovalov who is the General Choreographer of the company. He is constantly renovating and staging the numbers for "Ice Kaleidoscope" on the basis of new trends in development of the world art of dancing. Besides, he creates special surprising numbers for audience in those countries where the company is touring.
Dynamic colorful performance includes choreographic numbers that are different in genre. They use 150 wonderful costumes and are admired by audience in various countries without fail.
That was proved by concert tours to Israel, USA, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Finland, India, France and to other countries.
The program was specially revised for the performance in "Taj Mahal" Casino, Atlantic City (USA). It was updated according to the time of the concert tour.
