In Australia, interest in Russian culture and art remains consistently high. Only recently, the Bolshoi ballet company was successfully touring there, as Tchaikovsky’s music again sounded on the green continent.

A tour of the Imperial Russian Ballet, led by Gedeminas Taranda, started in Canberra this Sunday. The troupe opened with a production of Swan Lake, which the artists had already presented to the Australian public at previous times and which was a resounding success.

In an interview with TASS, Gedeminas Taranda said that tickets for all the troupe’s performances have already been sold out, the local audience has great respect for Russian ballet. The artists’ tours will last two and a half months, during which the Imperial Russian Ballet will give 55 performances in various cities of Australia and 14 in New Zealand.
