Sterkh will gather the stars of world ballet!
The festival ballet movement in the republic began at the turn of the 80-90s of the twentieth century. The first ballet festival in Yakutia in 1990 was the Northern Divertissement Festival, organized by the Prime Minister of the Yakut Ballet Boris Matveev in collaboration with the Union of Theater Workers of Russia. The festival was held three times and left an indelible mark on the memory of a large number of ballet lovers who were brought up just at these festivals.
The All-Russian festival of classical ballet “Sterkh”, held in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) since 2000, is today one of the few major theater projects in Yakutia, recognized not only in the republic, but also in Russia as a whole. Since 2004, the Festival was held as an All-Russian, since 2015 it acquired the status of an International Festival. From its very appearance until 2015, Sadovskaya N.M. was the artistic director of the Festival. (as, incidentally, of the Northern Divertissement festivals), whose inspired work on the preparation and holding of the Sterkh Festival was appreciated by the residents and guests of the republic, as well as the Russian ballet community. The constant chief choreographer of the Festival has been the Honored Artist of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Maria Vasilyevna Saydykulova, laureate of the Soul of Dance prize, for all the years. This year she heads the festival as its artistic director.
At the Sterkh Festival over the years, the honorary guests were the chief editor of the Ballet magazine V.I. Uralskaya, People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Vasiliev, People’s Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky, theater critic, Honored Artist of Russia S.N. Korobkov, professor of the St. Petersburg Conservatory A.M. Polubentsev, critics from St. Petersburg O. Rozanov, from Moscow Yu. Bolshakova-Lidova, E. Fedorenko, General Director of IFBK, First Vice-President of the International Union of Choreography Figures S. A. Usanov.
Masters of Russian ballet, guests from abroad, young promising dancers take part in the Sterkh Festival. The festival for all these years has attracted a large audience of fans of classical ballet, a favorite form of art among the inhabitants of our republic.
In 2017, at the IX Festival, the Yakut Theater entered the International Federation of Ballet Competitions and Festivals.
And so, from October 30 to November 3 of this year, Sterkh will open its wings for the tenth anniversary time and will gather ballet art stars on the Yakut stage!
