The classical performance of cult ballet “Giselle” by Marius Petipa was presented in Murmansk. The main part was performed by ballet dancer Elena Kotsyubira.
The romantic German legend “Giselle, or Vilis” became popular in the retelling of Heinrich Heine. Inspired by the fantastic story of all-forgiving love and the beautiful Giselle, the French composer Adolf Adan wrote ballet music. And in 1841, Giselle, staged by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, was first presented to the public at the Royal Academy of Music in Paris. But if Coralli and Perrot gave life to Giselle, then the world-wide popularity was bestowed upon it by the great Marius Petipa. Based on the choreography of his French colleagues, he created the perfect ballet, which today is the canon of true art. In Murmansk, Giselle was presented in exactly the version that the great choreographer Marius Petipa planned. Based on the classic music of Adolf Adan. The leading part was performed by Elena Kotsyubira. Elena Kotsyubira graduated from one of the best ballet schools in Russia – the Perm Ballet School under the guidance of the People’s Artist of Russia Lyudmila Sakharova. In 2000, she joined the troupe of the St. Petersburg Mikhailovsky Theater of Opera and Ballet.
