The Academic Ballet Theater of Boris Eifman set off yesterday for a monthly spring-summer tour of the cities of Canada and the USA. The tour will take place from May 9 to June 9 in Toronto, Chicago, Costa Mesa (Greater Los Angeles), Berkeley (Greater San Francisco), and also in New York.
Mr Eifman noted that contemporary Russian ballet art is in demand both in America and around the world. So, only this year the Eifman Theater will show its art in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Sofia, Bucharest, Tokyo, Beijing and other cities. The comedy ballet “The Pygmalion Effect” is set to music by Johann Strauss the Son. Combining the expressive tools of psychological ballet theater and the plasticity of ballroom dancing, Eifman offers a new interpretation of the myth of the sculptor who has fallen in love with his creation, and touches on a number of philosophical, ethical and social issues. The world premiere of this production took place in February in St. Petersburg.
