“Imperial Russian Ballet” by Gediminas Taranda on June 14th begins a large anniversary tour in the northern capital. A world tour takes place in honor of the 25th anniversary of the troupe.

The general director of the theater, Gediminas Taranda, on the eve spoke about what awaits the audience, assuring that everyone, adults and children, will enjoy what they see. Famous Petersburg artists will also appear on the stage in some performances: Honored Artist of Russia Ilya Kuznetsov, People’s Artist of Russia, Prima Ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater Yulia Makhalina, Denis Matvienko, now head of the Novosibirsk Opera Theater ballet.

– We started a world tour, we were in Brazil, China. In July, after St. Petersburg – Bulgaria, five performances. In the fall – Italy, New Zealand, Australia, – Gediminas Taranda reported. – And here we are in St. Petersburg. How can I overlook  this city? After all, the formation of Russian ballet took place here, and ballet art is so much appreciated and loved.

The birth of the “Imperial Russian Ballet” in 1994 took place here. Yes, the Moscow ballet, Maya Plisetskaya was our honorary president, but the stars with whom we danced are a cohort of brilliant actors not only of the Bolshoi Theater, Kiev, but also of the Mariinsky. Julia Makhalina, Ilya Kuznetsov, Zhanna Ayupova, Lyubov Kunakova, Diana Vishneva, Farukh Ruzimatov … My artists saw all these diamonds, can you imagine?
