Igor Moiseyev State Academic Ensemble arrived in the Mongolian capital as part of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the battle on Khalkhin Gol. The initiators of the tour were the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the domestic embassy in Mongolia, organized by the Federal State Budget-Institution “Roskontsert”, the portal of the Ministry of Culture reports.
The team arrived in Mongolia in full force – in the amount of eighty artists. The ensemble showed the best numbers from its repertoire to the Mongolian audience on September 3 and 4. The concerts were hosted by the Central Palace of Culture, operating in Ulan Bator. The audience saw the Sirtaki suite, the Russian Summer dance, the square dance from the Pictures of the Past series, the famous Yablochko, and dances of other peoples of the planet. Russian classics were also heard – the famous number “Polovtsian Dances” was presented to the audience, where the music of the Russian composer Alexander Borodin sounds.
One of the most famous and oldest Russian groups was created by the outstanding choreographer Igor Moiseev two years before the battle, which determined the fate of the Mongolian people for decades. This is the first dance group on the planet that has set itself the task of popularizing the folklore of different nations. There are over three hundred original dances inthe repertoire of “Moiseevs”, itas awarded by the UNESCO “Five Continents” award.
