The “Imperial Russian Ballet”, led by Honored Artist of Russia Gediminas Taranda, will perform on the stage of the Pskov Regional Philharmonic Society twice as part of the new philharmonic season, TASS reports citing Nikolai Khondzinsky, chief conductor of the Pskov Region Symphony Orchestra.
According to him, several performances of the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra are also planned in the upcoming Philharmonic season in Pskov. “We also hope that the arrival of Valery Gergiev [the artistic director of the Mariinsky Theater – PAI] in Pskov will become possible within the framework of the Moscow Easter Festival,” he said.
Nikolai Khondzinsky also said that the Pskov Regional Philharmonic Society continues to develop cooperation with the Moscow Philharmonic Society, participate in the program of the Ministry of Culture of Russia “All-Russian Philharmonic Seasons”, and work on the development of international relations. He also stressed that the Pskov Philharmonic is planning to continue close cooperation with the soloists of the Mariinsky Theater Academy of Young Opera Singers, led by Larisa Gergieva.
In 2019, almost 13.5 thousand people attended concerts at the Pskov Regional Philharmonic Society. This is more than two times higher than in 2017.
The Imperial Russian Ballet will perform in January 2020, Gediminas Taranda will present the Nutcracker to the Pskov audience. In 2018, in the Pskov region, by agreement with the head of the region, Mikhail Vedernikov, the Imperial Russian Ballet gave a tour in Velikiye Luki and a number of small towns in the Pskov region.
