In St. Petersburg, on the territory of the cultural space “Petrovsky Arsenal” in the historical center of Sestroretsk, the fifth anniversary annual jazz festival “Big Jam” will take place on September 7 and 8.
For two days, the best jazz bands and musicians from St. Petersburg, Moscow and Europe, the permanent residents of the bar “The Hat”, will gather outside the bar walls to give a unique and unique atmosphere of the jam session on the big stage.
The headliners of the festival will be such well-known bands and performers as the Billys Band, Proletarian Tango, Lera Gehner, Kuvaytsev Jazz Band, Olga Abdullina, Billy Novik and Petersburg Jazz Active, Kirill Bubyakin and Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra, and also the famous American jazzmen David Post and Blue Ray.
The special guest of the Big Jam is the legendary jazzman, People’s Artist of Russia David Goloshchekin and his ensemble.
“We want people who have visited the Big Jam to understand that real good jazz is really cool and fun music,” said Billy Novik, the founder of the festival.
Guests of the “Big Jam” can enjoy not only excellent music: food court from popular restaurants of St. Petersburg and Kurortny district, art market, souvenir products, active recreation areas, as well as exciting games and workshops for children, and for adults.
Jazz Festival “Big Jam” is held in the creative space of “Petrovsky Arsenal” since 2014 and is the longest jazz “jazz open-air” jam in the world. According to the organizers of the event, its main mission is the development of jazz in Russia, involving young people in the wake of the growing popularity of this music, as well as support for young and talented musicians.
